JUNE 23
JULY 28
SEP 1

HORTSMAN, BEEZLEY, WILBER AND HINKLEY JR ALL GRAB FEATURE CHECKERS

Jared Hortsman in Winged Sprint Cars, Tommy Beezley in UMP Modifieds, Tim Wilber in Sportsman, Jeff Hinkley, Jr and Tommy McDonald with the Planet Powersports Polaris Razors all captured feature wins at the Butler Motor Speedway.

With a full moon and full pits, you knew the excitement and intensity would be in the air and on the track.  The action would begin early as the red would fly during hot laps for a Bill Jacoby flip in Winged Sprint Cars.  The flip would collect Brian Lay and do damage to Lay's car.  Jacoby and Lay were both fine, with Jacoby retiring for the night.

The first feature to hit the track would be the Street Stocks with Dallas Prater and Robert VanderPloeg, who earlier in the season took a barrel roll down the front stretch, leading the field to green.  The yellow would fly on lap 2 for a spin and as the field went back to green the red would fly for a small fire in the pits.  With Zach Hiser leading, the filed went back to green, while Jeff Hinkley, Jr. would work the back of Hiser's car before getting around Hiser.  The yellow would fly on lap 11 for a Matt Rose spin.  Lap 11 would be a busy lap as Sheryll Dishaw would suffer a flat tire, Kevin Butters would suffer a flat tire and Jake Rendel would pull pitside.  With the field back to green, combined with the number of cars that went pitside, Hinkley, Jr. would continue to lead while Chris Garrett, Hiser and Bob Rendel would all give chase for the point.  A lap 12 yellow would slow the field when Sheryll Dishaw, returning from the flat tire, would roll to a stop in turn 2.  Back to green and the field would remain the same to the checkers with Jeff Hinkley, Jr. picking up the feature win over Garrett, Hiser, Rendel and Terry Bumpus.  With 33 Street Stocks in the pits, the heat race winners were Hinkley,Jr. , Last weeks feature winner Dustin Hyliard, Dishaw and Hiser.  Kevin Butters would best the 17 car B main.

The Sportsman feature would roll onto the 3/8 mile next with Jake Rendel and Wes Bates pacing the field to green.  The yellow would wave early for a spin by 2011 Champion Tim Wilber, with Wilber going pitside to have the crew check over the car before returning.  Back to green with Rendel leading Bates and Jarrett Rendel when the yellow would fly on lap 9 for Fred VanEvey stopping in turn 2.  Wilber was the car on the move, as he had raced back up to 4th at this point.  Back to green, Rendel would jumb back to the lead, while Wilber would work his way around Jarrett Rendel, and sneak by Bates.  A lap 14 yellow for debris would slow the field and bring Wilber to Rendel's bumper with Bates waiting to capitalize on any mistake made by the front 2.  Rendel would jump back out when the green waved and Wilber would like high and low, with the pair putting on a duel for the lead.  Bates, just behind the leaders, was looking for any chance to pounce on the front two cars.  With 2 laps to go, Wilber would get by Rendel for the lead in turn 2, and lead only the final 2 laps to score his 2nd feature win of the 2012 season.  Following Wilber would be Jake Rendel, Bates, Jarrett Rendel and Steve Langdon.  Heat races were won by Wilber and Jake Rendel.

The Winged Sprint car feature would roll out with Jared Hortsman and Shelby Bilton pacing the field.  At the green, Bilton would jump to the lead.  A lap 1 yellow would fly for a crash on the frontstretch for Brad Lamberson, Ryan Kirkendall and Doug Zimmerman, with Chad Hart suffering a flat tire in the melee.  Bilton would lead the field back to green with Brandon Hyliard in 2nd, Hortsman in 3rd and Stuart Brubaker in 4th.  The yellow would fly on lap 6 for Tom Davies sliding off turn 3.  Back to green with Bilton leading and Hyliard would get around Bilton, only to see the yellow fly after contact would send the Trey Smith car spinning in turn 3.  The field would go back to green with Bilton leading Hyliard, and Hortsman began his move.  Hortsman was abole to work to the lead on lap 12 before a caution would fly a lap later for a slowing Gerry Hart.  Hortsman would lead the field back to green and would see the yellow fly 2 laps later for Gary Fast sliding off turn 3.  Hortsman would go on to win his 2nd feature win of the 2012 season ahead of Brubaker, Brian Lay, Hyliard and Matt Merill.  Heat race wins for the 25 Sprint Cars on hand went to Gerry Hart, Brubaker, and Hortsman with Zimmerman collecting the B main.

The UMP Modifieds would roll onto the track with Derrick Noffsinger and Doug McLachlan would lead the field to green.  A Lap 1 yellow would fly for a crash in turn 1 collecting Josh Lolmaugh, Jake Bailey and Steve Shellenberger.  The filed would go back to green until lap 3 when Noffsinger would break and spin.  Tommy Beezley would lead the field back to green with McLachlan in 2nd until the yellow would fly for  McLachlan spinning off turn 3 with a flat left rear tire.  A lap 7 yellow would fly for the spinning car of David Mielke.  On the lap 7 restart, contact between Shellenberger and Brian McFeeters would bring the yellow back out.  Back to green with Beezley leading and Jordan Bailey in 2nd just ahead of 13th starting Joe Rokos.  A lap 8 yellow would fly for the spinning Dillon Nusbaum.  Back under green, Beezley leading and the yellow would fly immediately for the spinning Nusbaum, who had broken.  Beezley would pace the field back to the restart and lead until the yellow slowed the field on lap 14 for a spin by McFeeters.  Beezley would go back to the lead with Rokos working around Bailey for 2nd and setting his sights on the 2010 champion.  With 1 lap to go, Rokos would show Beezley the nose of his car, but was unable to cleanly make the pass.  At the checkered it would be  Beezley winning his 3rd in a row and 4th on the season, ahead of Rokos, Bailey, 2011 Champion Michael Tarlton and Jake Rendel.  Heat race winners for the 34 Modifieds on hand were Randy Woodling, Andy Bibler, Derrick Noffsinger and Tim Wilber.  Brian McFeeters won the 18 car B main.

The Planet Powersports Polaris Razors put on a demo event with 11 racers doing battle.  Heat races would be won by Adam Smetka and Tommy McDonald.  During the 2nd heat race, Junior Witted would go for a wild flip in turns 3 and 4.  Witted would be fine, but the racer was done for the night.  The feature  would be won by McDonald.

The always popular Autograph night took place earlier in the night and is a big hit, as the fans get the chance to come down onto the track and meet the drivers, see the cars, and get autographs and goodies from the drivers.  A huge thanks goes out to all the drivers and crews who help make this possible.
